This article was originally published in LeeMuse, Autumn 2003 A Message from the President Written by Logan Hardie, President, Leelanau Historical Society Every now and then I have an opportunity, with gratefulness and satisfaction, to share with you the generous spirit of our members and friends. One of those opportunities is here now. Long time LHS supporter Francis Potter Breitner has underwritten a gallery in our remodeled museum. This center gallery has the spaciousness for wonderful displays which, based primarily upon the donor's request, will be dedicated to artwork of the pen and brush. We are so grateful to Fran. The second opportunity comes when I tell you about gifts in honor of Roger Weinheimer our LHS Trustee who passed on this past spring. Roger, in his wisdom, was instrumental in convincing our Director John Mitchell to pursue the remodeling of the museum. In Rogers' memory, his family has donated funding for the beautiful cherry table and fourteen cherry chairs now in the Study Center. I urge you to visit and see how this beautiful furniture compliments the serenity of the river-view room. One final word, please use the Museum Store for your Christmas shopping.
