In 1999, Dean Robb and Joyce Braithwaite captivated a capacity crowd at the
Bay Theatre with their performance of Love Letters. Last year, Betty
Joplin, Harry Goldson and his quartet, and the Leelanau Players filled the
Bay with the swinging sounds and snappy dialogue of Windy City Blues. This year, mark you calendar for June 23, dust off your gear, and break out the
suntan lotion as the Leelanau Historical Society takes to the field,
anticipating the three-peat.
This year's benefit, History Afield: Swing into Summer with the Leelanau Historical Society, includes a choice of three exciting afternoon time events -- a golf scramble at King's Challenge, a tennis tournament at the Leland Country Club, or a guided tour of historic Sleeping Bear Bay -- followed by a reception at the Riverside Inn and family bar-b-que supper on the grounds of the Old Art Building in Leland. Delicious food will be provided by chef John Hardy of Cedar Valley Ranch catering. A live auction will feature a weekend at a beautiful lakeside cottage, an original piece by Becky Thatcher, and a handmade Amish quilt, among other items.

The day's activities begin at noon and go until 9pm.
Tickets for the golf scramble or tennis tournament, reception and supper are
$150.00 per person or $250.00 per couple.
Tickets for the tour of Sleeping Bear Bay, reception, and supper are $100.00 per person or $200.00 per couple.
Tickets for the reception and dinner only are $60.00 per person (children under 12 are free).
