Internet Strategies for Small Museums
Introduction
Leelanau: The Way We WereIn 1996, Andrew McFarlane of Leelanau Communications, Inc. (LCI) of Leland, Michigan sought out the Leelanau Historical Society (LHS) for the purpose of using the text and images from their calendar Leelanau, The Way We Were to enhance their regional information web site at Leelanau.com.

In exchange, LCI designed and hosted a simple web site for the LHS. In winter of 2000, Mark Livengood, the director of the LHS, and Andrew McFarlane worked together to expand that partnership and the LHS web site.

In May of 2000 a greatly enhanced site was launched at leelanauhistory.org with funding from the Clannad Foundation and an in-kind labor donation from LCI.

It is our hope to share some of what we've learned (and continue to learn) about the process of web site creation as it applies to cultural institutions.

To that end, we will be posting articles about our experiences and those of others we receive as well as links to useful Internet resources.
