FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

What does T2 stand for?
T2 is short for "The Today's Tomorrows Youth Challenge" an all-county high school education initiative coordinated by the Leelanau Historical Museum.

What is T2?
T2 is a collaboration of local governments, nonprofit organizations, businesses and individuals who believe in youth creating community change. The Today's Tomorrows project provides a unique opportunity to raise public awareness of the value of the youth voice and provide a venue to showcase their views and ideas.

What is unique about T2?
T2 approaches learning and teaching in ways that provide effective learning experiences for youth.

T2 is Curriculum Based
This means that T2 students work in their classrooms receive a grade for their projects.

T2 is Service Learning
Students go into the community to interact and learn directly from
its members.

T2 is Multigenerational
Students work with adults and learn to develop mutually respectful relationships with them.

T2 is Place-Based Education
Students learn about the place in which they live, building understanding for the community of which they are part.

Why was T2 created?
T2 was created to connect youth from throughout Leelanau County with each other and to encourage them to understand that they are part of the same community. The project also seeks to involve youth in local decision making as an important step in envisioning and creating a future that will meet the needs of all residents.

How can students get involved in T2?
T2 projects are class assignments in classrooms in Leelanau County's five public schools. The class subject and gradelevel vary from school to school.

How can adults get involved in T2?
Adults may serve as mentors, resource professionals, or serve in other supportive roles. Please call T2 Coordinator, Laura Quackenbush at 231-256-7475 to explore the ways in which you can assist.

Who is involved in T2?
T2 is an education initiative created and coordinated by the Leelanau Historical Museum in collaboration with over fifty county, township and village governmental units, school districts, non profit organizations, youth and adults.
